The Veps language spoken by the Vepsians (also known as Veps), belongs to the Finnic group of the Uralic languages.

Veps belongs to the Baltic-Finnic group of the Finno-Ugric languages. According to the location of the people, it is divided into three main dialects: Northern or Äänis-Veps, Central-Veps and Southern Veps.
